Worth Looking Into?
DORIAN BOOK QUARTERLY is a new and unique venture which will attempt to make known to an ever-expanding readership the availability of most of the books on sex variation and related themes. It will be more than an advertising medium, however. Specifically, here is the scope of of this new periodical:
1. To contact English-language publishers in the U. S. and abroad for information about new books in the Dorian field; to advertise, publicize and critically review these books upon publication.
2. To provide a "search service" for out-of-print and rare books in this field; and to offer the public a "Readers Mart" for listing titles for sale or exchange by individuals and collectors.
3. To conduct bibliographic research into the literature on homosexual and sex variation themes, and to review old books that have a lasting or historical significance.
4. To promote a "freedom to read" movement and combat attempts at censorship. Here, the editors will cooperate with organized community groups everywhere that are active in anti-censorship work. Our policy in this field will be clear and unwavering: Adult Americans shall continue to have the right to choose freely what they shall read.
5. To aid authors in getting their manuscripts into print and distribution channels.
6. To urge public and university libraries to place socio-sexual titles on their shelves and permit these books to circulate openly.
7. To cooperate with sexological education, research and social service organizations, particularly to aid their work in establishing libraries, and locating sexological reference material; to cooperate with scientific and academic research teams and study groups.
